This may sound a bit far-stretched, thinking back on the most other common uses of the Shakti Mat especially. However, thinking back again on the main principles of the Shakti Mat, its acupressure effects, its foundation based on the Indian nail bed and its resemblance to acupuncture, it should not come out as too surprising that I expect the Shakti Mat to do some miracle on cellulite as well…
I will be less cryptic and more clear…
A few months ago, I was at Herbal Inn in Westfield White City. I was booked for a cellulite massage, which is listed as the “acu-slimming massage” in the company brochure. Not quite sure of what the “acu” stood for, I was quite bothered when different therapists asked me insistingly whether I was having an acupuncture or not. I kept saying very determinedly, “just cellulite massage.”
The situation became more clear to me once I was inside the treatment room with the therapist. The venue used acupuncture to treat cellulite, hence the name acu-slimming massage became more meaningful.

Not being fond of needles so much, I refused the “acu” phase of the treatment and we all happily settled for the massage. The therapist relaxed also after explaining to me that she had to charge me the same fee with or without the acupuncture part of the treatment. Once I said I would not make any buzz about it, we were set to go.
But of course this detail into acupuncture for cellulite remained in my mind. Once I laid my hands on the Shakti Mat several weeks later and felt its resemblance to the traditional acupuncture treatment (at least my perception of it), I decided to try it for cellulite as well.
So what do I do? After my shower, I simply sit on the Shakti Mat for about 10 – 15 minutes, pretty much as demonstrated in the embedded pictures.
Based on the same principles which reduce tension in your back, increased circulation should also help your battle with stubborn fatty cells which eventually turn into peeled orange looks of cellulite on your buttocks.
Later on apply a handful of cellulite cream over the problem areas as you massage the cream into your thighs, following a movement from your ankles towards your belly – that is against gravity.
